          Description

SNR G156.2+5.7 is a very beautiful supernova remnant in the constellation Auriga, around 5000 light years away. It is situated behind the Taurus Auriga dust complex about 300 light years away, which gives it the ghostly appearance of weaving around dark nebula in the foreground.

This supernova has been very neglected in astrophotography, I could only find three other examples of it being captured, one from the UK, one from Japan, and nicolas outters. Only the image on the Japanese forum showed it in full color. The many papers on this object do also show very nice deep wide Ha images of the remnant, so there was a gurantee that something cool was here.

This SNR is very very faint, and I tried to shoot more Oiii than Ha to try and pick up something more, but this SNR is really lacking much Oiii outside its core. If you're going to go for it, I would do a lot more Ha.
